Blog House Launches B4B=KERP fund

Bloggers for Blogger
President of Blog House Malaysia Syed Akbar Ali handing over the contribution
to Kerp at his apartment following a short visit on 18 May 2011

UPDATE: 25 May 2011, 1518hrs - The Fund has now reached RM15,589.34 with the latest contribution from a reader contributing a total of RM500.00 Thank you to Nur Azrina Abdul Samad (for those wishing anonymity, please include in your email that no acknowledgment is required. Thank you for all your kind words and contributions)

Since its inception, Blog House Malaysia has been fortunate enough to have corporate sponsors partnering us, and achieving the unimaginable of organizing the 1st MARBC isn’t something we want to rest on.

In fact, the 1st MARBC enabled us to get in touch with some bloggers by inviting them as guest of Blog House to the event. Most tuned up without hesitation. In fact, almost all those whom we invited turned up. Some just could not.

You see, its not that he did not want to come, just that he could not. It’s not because of his physical disability.

When Rocky invited Blogger Kerp , or Danny as some who are more personal with him would call, he spent a few minutes explaining why he would love to but couldn’t. The last time Kerp met up with Rocky was when he was invited as a guest by Celcom in the Blackberry Storm launch at the Sepang F1 circuit, an event which Kerp enjoyed very much. He told so.

But this time it was different. With his blessing, we would like to share his story.

Kerp is a wheelchair bound blogger, and he has been actively writing both in his blog and a former columnist with the Malay Mail. His writing was an eye opener to his readers.

He has been blogging actively since 2007, and he last blogged in March 2010. You see, he not only had to overcome challenges to himself as a physically challenged person but also to something that we take for granted, love.

After 11 years of courtship, he finally took on a wife in Molee, a girl from Kuala Selangor whom he had shared many good and bad times with. This was in March 2010, so his hiatus from blogging is a well reasoned one.

In his words ‘…To me it  was the best thing ever happened my entire life. And it still does and i believe forever it shall be. But good things at some point will come to an end,  or hopefully temporarily. When we thought our beautiful marriage life can only get better, another tragedy struck, this time to Molee, my dear wife. She was diagnosed with kidney cancer and as i write this the dreadful bad cells have spread to her lower vertebra, which means a radiation treatment is compulsorily required….’

Blog House Malaysia, with Kerp’s family’s blessing is now more than ever ready to launch our B4B fund, starting with Kerp.

We are not certain how far our initiative will go, but one thing for sure is that by doing so, we know that our blogger friend Kerp will have something less to worry about.

We hope that you will be able to do the same, by reflecting this post on your blog and contributing in your own way to help ease Kerp’s burden.

To kick off the B4B=KERP fund, Blog House Malaysia will start by contributing RM10,000.00 to it, and hope that you can help carry the posting and also contribute if you can. We would also like to extend our very best wishes and a quick recovery to both Kerp and Molee.

You can do your part by;
  1. Carrying a similar post reflective of this posting
  2. Banking in your contribution to MAYBANK - acc No1642 5846 2732 AHMAD DANIEL SHAH B SHARANI.
  3. Sending an email on your contribution and amount to mybloghouse@gmail.com so that we can update Kerp of your contribution (and keeping a countmeter as well!)
  4. As we are aware that some people may take advantage of the situation, always point your posting links back to www.bloghousemalaysia.com website
God Bless.

Inaugural MARBC 2011 - a success that surprises even us

We at Blog House Malaysia are still trying to get over the success we have achieved for the 1st Malaysian-Asean Regional Bloggers Conference (MARBC, pronounced  "ma-back") held over the weekend of 23rd and 24th April 2011. It's a good feeling. We might as well enjoy it while it lasts. Anyway, during the initial conception of the conference, we agreed that we would set out to achieve 3 things. First, to invite the Statesman Blogger and former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be the patron of Blog House. Second, to seek the presence of the Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak to officiate its opening and give us his Keynote Address. Third, to invite as many fellow local and Asean Bloggers to come partake of the occasion and share with us their experiences, successes and challenges. Honestly, we were pleasantly surprised at the outcome. They all agreed to come and grace us with their presence and we had a great time enjoying ourselves. And as they say, the rest is history. But, lest we forget, the conference would not have been as great a success if not for the generosity of our sponsors to whom we are grateful.

For more on what transpired at the conference, please click HERE. The following are pictures of some of the highlights of MARBC 2011.
